Lavender & Epsom salts: An at home recipe

 

Epsom salts are medicinal and very different to your standard table salt. Made up of magnesium, sulphur and oxygen. Releasing sulphate ions and magnesium this will have so many benefits for your wellbeing.  We do not consume enough magnesium and this is one way for it to contribute to our wellbeing.

 

What can we learn from Magnesium?

A decent amount of magnesium is needed and is essential for sleep and stress. This is because magnesium helps the brain produce neurotransmitters. This induces sleep and reduces stress.

Remember our mention of the importance of sleep?  Magnesium can also help your body produce melatonin, a hormone that promotes sleep. As you absorb the Epsom salts through your skin, you will inevitably absorb the magnesium. Having a bath also promotes relaxation, so there is no excuse!

Feel stress-free and much calmer with our very simple recipe

 

What you will need:

  • A bottle of Lavender oil
  • Candles
  • Music [optional]
  • 2 Cups of Epsom salts
  • Milk [optional]

 

 

 

Instructions:

 

1. Run a bath until the tub is around ¾ full. Fill your bath with Epsom 2 cups of Epsom salt , 2-3 drops of lavender oil and if you want to leave your skin super soft but about 3 cups of milk.

 

2. Mix with your hands, light some candles and put on some music. For some extra aesthetics add some rose petals.

 

3.Relax for 20-30 minutes.

 

4.Our recommendation is to use Shea Amethyst body butter; Shea butter infused with lavender essential oil, which will give you that extra touch of calmness for the skin and mind.  Once this step is complete, get ready for bed.
